Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Arrival Process
Scholars in Grades K-2, arriving on campus between 7:30m-8:00am, should enter through door #4 (West Entrance), and go straight to their classroom, where breakfast is available.
Scholars, in Grades 3-4, arriving on campus between 7:30am-8:00am, should enter through door #12 (North Entrance) and report to the cafeteria to retrieve a breakfast bag. Scholars must report directly to their homeroom class to eat breakfast and prepare for the morning meeting.
Scholars, in Grades 5-8, arriving on campus between 7:30am-8:00a, should enter through the main door, door #1, and report to the cafeteria to retrieve a breakfast bag. Scholars must report directly to their homeroom class to eat breakfast and prepare for the morning meeting.
Scholars in grades K-2 who ride the bus are allowed to enter through the main door at arrival.
Scholars who arrive after 8:00am, regardless of grade level, must enter through the main door and sign the tardy log. Scholars in grades K-2 will report directly to class. Scholars in grades 3-8 will report to the cafeteria for a breakfast bag, then straight to their classroom.
Scholars arriving at school after 8:45am must be escorted to the security desk by an adult.
Dismissal Process
School is dismissed at 2:40pm. Scholars must be out of the building by 2:45p, unless participating in an extracurricular activity supervised by an adult. Parents must make arrangements for their scholars to be picked up promptly. The campus must be clear by 2:50p.
Transportation Students
An assigned adult picks up all transportation students from their classrooms, between 2:30-2:35pm.
Transportation students are escorted to the bus area and put on their designated bus by their assigned adult.
Transportation students are mandated to ride the bus daily unless the Parent/ guardian has contacted the school in advance (no later than 2:00pm), notifying us of a transportation change.
Non-Transportation Students
Scholars who do not ride District Transportation will be dismissed from their homerooms at 2:40pm by the Homeroom Teachers. Teachers escort their classes outside the building. Scholars may be picked up outside at the following doors:
Kindergarten, 1st Grade & 2nd Grade: Door #4 (West Entrance)
3rd Grade, 4th Grade & 5th Grade: Door #12 (North Entrance)
Middle School: Door #1 (Main Entrance)
Grades K-8 Early Release
Parents/authorized adults will sign their scholars out of school on the appropriate form at the main door. Parents/authorized adults will notify the security officer/staff member of the early release.
Parent/authorized adult MUST have a photo ID to have a scholar dismissed prior to 2:40pm.
Only authorized adults will be permitted to get a scholar prior to the 2:40pm dismissal time.

The District utilizes one platform that stores the scholars' grades, attendance, behavior, and other educational attributes.
As a parent, you have access to viewing their grades and attendance in real time. There is a unique username and password for each scholar you have enrolled in the District.

School Dress Code
White, Red or Black Polo Style or Button-Down Tops
Black or Khaki Colored School Bottoms
White, Red or Black Sweaters or Cardigans (Hoodies are Allowed)
Closed-toe shoes (weather appropriate)
Belts should be worn with pants with belt loops.

Transportation
DPSCD offers Student Transportation for scholars who reside in Marion Law Academy's School Radius. Please contact DPSCD Transportation at 313-945-8600 to see if your household qualifies for transportation services.* If you sign your scholar(s) up for transportation services after the first two weeks of school, please contact the Main Office with your scholar's route number and stop (intersection) so that we may add them manually to the list.
*Please Note: Please ensure that your most current contact information has been updated with the Clerical Staff. Kindergarten students are not allowed to ride Student Transportation without an older sibling. Scholars must know their route number and stop before they will be allowed to ride Student Transportation.
